Flower fun friday :)

I can't believe another week has just flown by. Well it's Friday and that means it's time for a Bellarific Friday card:)

This weeks challenge was to use flowers, and I LOVE flowers, so  I was in my comfort zone.  In fact, my "challenge" was trying to figure out which idea to use and which could wait for another day :)

Here's my card for this weeks challenge:
I used my silhouette machine for the card base. I added a pool color card piece behind the lattice cut outs to give it some color.  I distressed the whole front with some soft sand ink and added the bow. I selectively inked and stamped the  perk me up daisy solid  stamp onto a fancy label. I distressed the edges with soft stone ink.  Next I used copics to add some definition to the petals. I stamped the flower again and cut out each petal, I curled the petals and added them on tho the base image, I added a thin layer of glossy accents. Lastly I added a sentiment and some gems:)

Well, that's it from me for now. I hope you have a wonderful and restful weekend. Perhaps I 'll find time to get crafty and post something.   Here's to hoping ;)

If you can dream it :)

Hello beautiful people :)
I have a card to share with you today:
I colored the background piece in with distress stains on watercolor paper.  Next I stamped the Dandelion Frame very lightly with pumice stone.  I distressed the edges with my Tim Holtz paper distressing tool, and added some vintage photo ink to accentuate it.  I then stamped "Jane girl" and the matching sentiment with black versamark ink. (Since the watercolor paper has some texture on it, solid images don't always stamp properly so I went over those areas with  a black copic liner).  I stamped the butterfly onto plain white cardstock and cut it out.  I glued it on to the edge of the image on the background piece and added glossy accents to make it pop.  Next I sprayed the whole piece with Studio Calico Mr Huey shine mist.   Lastly I attached the background piece to a charcoal grey base and added some gems for fun :)

Hope you are having a brighter day that we are, it's pretty dull and gloomy here today :)

Happy Bellarific Friday!

Today I have two cards to share.  I made one card for the challenge, then had another idea and decided to try that too.  I'll post them both and let you decide which one you like best :)
Firstly, here is the sketch:
Now, here is card #1:
Ok, buckle up, it's gonna be a LOONG one. :) Lots of techniques.
I started with the blue middle piece. I used copics to create a graded color BG.  Next I stamped the scribble garden stamp on top in black versamark ink. I distressed the edges with the Tim holtz distresser and added distress inks in tea dye and vintage photo.    I then stamped the image again on a plain white piece of bella's best paper. I colored that one in with copics and them added crackle accents to the flowers.  I distressed the edges again with  tea dye and vintage photo.  I layered the two pieces together.  For the base I stamped the polkadot  inkblock  on to  kraft card stock and distressed the edges with vintage photo ink.  I popped the main image onto the base with dimensional tape.

Now for card #2:
For this one, I used the same coloring technique with copics for the BG piece as I did in the first one.  Next I masked off the edges and stamped the Dandelion wisps stamp with versa mark ink. I then made a frame with chocolate card stock and embossed it with a woodgrain folder.  I stitched some twine to the corners and added a button.  I then layered the pieces on to a chocolate base.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you had fun.
Next weeks challenge is all about flowers! ( my favorite!!)  I hope you can find some time to play along :)

A little birdie told me....

Hello friends.  This weekend has been one of those weekends where I had a long "to do" list that just never got done! We had to take the Baby to the walk in clinic on Saturday and I think that is about when my plans just went south. HA!   Anyway, I was planning to upload this card last week, but we were so busy that I totally forgot to, so here it is:

I absolutely LOVE this girl. Little birdie Jane, don't you?  She is so mysterious, I keep wondering what she's thinking about.  Am I crazy?  I don't know if you can see it, but I painted the background piece with shimmer paints, so the sparkle adds such a lovely element to the overall effect.  I colored her in with copics.

April Showers

Hello again.
So much for commitment ha?  LOL!   My first week and I only managed to post twice.
I do actually have a good reason/excuse though.
You see, my cousin from South Africa arrived in town with his family for a short visit before they head off to Disney world and then New York.  So the past few days were spent enjoying their company. It was so nice having them around.

Anyway, on to business! Today is Bellarific Friday and that means.... tat, ta, ,da!!  My card for this weeks challenge:

The theme was "Showers", I made an acetate card using the Cloudy inkblock, and flower garden   stamps. LOTS of glossy accents and some letter stickers.
Here is a close up of the flowers to show you the dimension :)

This was so much fun to make. I hope you enjoyed today's visit.

Next weeks challenge is a sketch challenge.
I hope you can play along.

Thanks for stopping by.

I'm a BABE!

Happy Good Friday to all of you who celebrate this day.
Firstly, I want to thank you all for such a warm welcome.  I am reminded once again of how awesome this hobby is and how amazing and sweet the people I have met though it are :) Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yesterday I said I had some exciting news to share, and here it is... (Drum roll please)

I'm a BABE!
Ok so now that you are sufficiently confused, let me explain.

A few weeks ago I was visiting my LSS, ( which just happens to be THE Stamping Bella itself!),  when Emily and I got to chatting, (if you are ever fortunate enough to meet this lady, you'll know instantly what I'm talking about, she is passionate about art and her enthusiasm is infectious!) she mentioned in passing that she had "plans" for me (cryptic or what?).  A few days later, I got an e-mail from her asking if I wanted to join the team and become a "Bellarific Babe!".  To say I was excited would be a gross understatement.  Today is my first day on the team, and this weeks challenge was a sketch challenge.  So without further ado... I give you my first card as a "Babe", lol!:

And here is the sketch:

This card was so much fun to make.  I started with the bottom piece which is the new Tim Holtz specialty stamping paper. I swiped walnut stain distress stain back and forth which created a wood grain effect.  To enhance the effect I ran it through my bigshot with a woodgrain impression plate.  Next I sponged a piece of white cardstock with distress inks in mustard seed and spiced marmalade, and splattered water on it to create water drops.  Then I inked up my new Vicki Boutin love notes background  with pumice stone and stamped that. I attached the two layers together and distressed the sides before inking it with walnut stain distress ink.  Next I used my Em's lantern flower stamp and stamped the flowers onto a note book die cut.  I colored them in with copics, distressed the edges and covered them in glossy accents.  For the sentiment I used  Vicki's journal strips with a happy birthday sentiment. The button is a glitter button I made from fimo clay tired with a bit of twine.

Thanks again for stopping by

I've arrived!

How often do you face your fears head on and "do it anyway"?  I used to be that person, but over the last 10 years, I have slowly morphed into a scardy cat who allows every fear to grip and keep a hold of me.
I have been threatening to start this blog for over a year now, and through a mixture of fear, intimidation, being too busy and well lets face it... laziness, it has remained just that... a threat!

So I have decided that it is time to fulfill a promise I made myself at the beginning of 2012. "To do EVERYTHING that scares me". T to do things differently this year in the hope that I will end up with different results than I have been getting these past few years.
I can't say I know what I am  doing.. I don't. I am planning to learn as I go, so if I make mistakes and fumble along, committing faux pas along the way, please be patient and forgiving.
I hope to share my love of paper crafts here and perhaps a little bit about the people I love. I hope you stop by often and perhaps even gain an inkling of joy and inspiration from having visited me.

To all friends new and old.. Welcome to my little corner of the WWW! :)

For my first post I have a card to share that I created using some of my new favorite things.  The background is the  "Flower Dot Pattern" from Hero arts and that pretty girl blowing a kiss is "Blow a KISS Jane" from Stamping Bella stamp. Isn't she pretty? :)

Please come back tomorrow, I have some VERY exciting news to share :))))
