Inspire

It's Friday and that means I have a Bella card to share:)

This weeks challenge was a sketch challenge.  I must say, I totally lost my mojo.  I just could not seem to get anything to work. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, and my final card looks NOTHING like the card in my head!  I am really not sure about this one. I can't say I love it.  I think I kind of like it, but it is definitely not one of my favorite cards.   Anyway, here it is:)

I used the poppy image from Paula's framed florals. I love this set. I have to use it again soon to do it justice. I started by coloring in the poppy with pencils, and then added a thick layer of crackle to it. I distressed the image and mounted it on to a scallop die cut.  Next I stamped the background piece with the envelope stamp and distressed it. I added the ribbon and flower panel and mounted it to a red card base. Lastly I added the metal piece.

Thanks for visiting

Stitching

Happy, happy Friday!  This weeks challenge was to use stitching on your card, and I must say, I love stitching on cards, but seemed to have an awful time trying to stitch on my cards.  I spent the better part of Tuesday trying to get my darn machine to work... I just about gave up when I figured I may as well break out the manual and see if I missed something. WELL!  I guess if I had bothered to read up on how to thread the bobbin properly, (or even just looked at the picture on the lid of the bobbin holder, ...shhh)  I would have saved myself a LOT of stress and thread.
Anyway, I did it, and I finished my card.
Here it is:
I used the flower garden stamp for this one, (I think it is my new favorite flower stamp).  I inked it up and stamped it on the side of the note card.  I colored it in and then, (you guessed it!) added glossy accents.  Next I stitched around the card, and added a sentiment.  I am thinking about entering Gallery Idol, and I am going to throw this card into the pool and see what happens. Wish me luck! :)
Till next time, happy stamping!

Twinchie fun

It's Friday, and that means it a bellaRIFIC Friday :)
This week the challenge was to create a card using this sketch:
It was a tough one for me, I had a few ideas and was not sure what direction to go in.  But I knew I wanted to use some twinchies I have had in my stash for a few years and never got around to playing with.  So I started playing and came up with this:
I absolutely love the way it turned out (surprising for me... I rarely 'love' my cards).  You can't see the full effect in this picture but in real life it looks like an old ceramic tile that has been attached to the card.  The richness of the colors are also not captured.  I am thinking I, A) need a new camera, and B) need some photography lessons. :)

Anyway, I made this by placing the four twinchie pieces together and then I stamped and heat embossed the fluffy flower head onto the four pieces with black zing powder. I colored the flower in with distress ink stains. I then created a mask for the flower and then sprayed the background with some tattered angles mists.  Next I distressed the edges and applied a thick layer of crackle accents to the tiles.  After it dried I applied some vintage photo distress ink to the surface and lightly misted it with water to allow the ink to bleed into the cracks.  I arranged and glued the tiles to a black piece of card stock and attached the corner accents.  I took an orange piece of card stock and embossed it with my Papertrey Ink linen/canvas impression plate.  I then took a terracotta shade of card stock and punched out two scallop borders. I attached those to the top and bottom and added some nail heads to the scallops.  I colored the nail heads with copics to match the brass color of the photo corners. Lastly, I heat embossed the sentiment with chocolate brown Zing powder.

Next weeks challenge is all about SEWING. It can be real or faux, your choice, just be sure to add some sort of stitching and e-mail your entries to Emily by Thursday to be entered into the draw to win some Bella BUX!

And that's it from me for today. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Have a great day

I have a card to share with you today that I made for a birthday party my Sons went to.  When I finished my DH looked at it and told me it was not "childish" enough and would suit an older boy more, so I scrambled to make another one and kept this on for future use.
I started by stamping the envelope pattern stamp onto kraft card stock, I distressed the edges and sprayed the piece with studio calico shimmer spray.  I die cut the tag and distressed the edges with distress inks. I stamped the scooter image and colored it in with copics. I sprayed this too with the shimmer spray.  I added some ribbon, and twine and popped it onto the kraft panel that I then attached to a rustic cream card base :)

Thanks for stopping by.
