25 Days of Christmas tags 2020 - Day14

Hello, and welcome! Today is day 14 of the10th annual 25 days of Christmas tags event hosted by the lovely Tracey McNeely.  I look forward to this every year. As you can see, my blog exists for the sole purpose of participating in this event. πŸ˜‚

Head on over HERE to find out all the details of how you can participate and win some of the amazing prizes that are up for grabs.

Todays sponsor are the masters of cuteness, the ever popular... LAWN FAWN, so consider yourself warned. πŸ˜‰

While brainstorming some ideas for todays tags I came across a bookmark die and it reminded me of a miniature version of the current slimline cards that everyone is making. It then occurred to me that books are usually very popular Christmas gifts and that's when it hit me... Bookmark tags! The icing on top is that it is environmentally friendly too. Instead of it getting tossed out it can be used for years to come. That's a win in my book. (see what I did there?πŸ˜‰)

Anyhow... moving on to the tags. I used the ~Over The Mountain~ and ~Snow Globe Scenes~ stamps sets to make these. After stamping the scenes I masked off the mountains and ink blended the skies. I tried to make each one look as if it were at a different time of day. I also tried to make the one on the far right look like the Aurora Borealis. I am not crazy about how it turned out but I am inspired enough to want to give it another try. Once the skies were done I went to work colouring in all the images with Copic Markers. I used a Wow embossing pen and some snow embossing powder to add some snow to the mountain caps and snow drifts. I added some sentiments, ribbon, twine and bells and I was done!

I hope you enjoyed my tags and thank you for stopping by.

25 Days of Christmas tags - Day 10

Hello and welcome!

Today is Day 10 of my lovely and amazing friend Tracey McNeely's 25 days of Christmas tags event. I cannot believe it's been on for 9 years!! I am so honoured that she has asked me to join her these past few years. She really is the QUEEN of Christmas tags.

Today's sponsor is Simon Says Stamp so I made my tags with some of their great line of products. To give you an idea of just how excited I am, I made two tags for today. 😊 So without further delay...I  will show you the tags already! πŸ˜‚

My first tag:
For this first tag I used two dies. The -Christmas token die- and the -Maryanne snowflake-. I cut the Christmas token out of blue glitter cardstock 4 times. This die has a big snowflake in the centre that I didn't want to use so I used a circle die to cut it out. I wanted just the words as a frame where I could suspend the smaller snowflake inside. Once I had just the frame I glued them together.  I cut the smaller snowflake out of silver glitter cardstock 4 times.  I glued a piece of silver thread in between  the layers so I could attach it to the frame I created. Once this was attached, all that was left to do was attach a loop for hanging. I added some bells and a red bow for a pop of colour.  Easy...Peasy!

My second tag:

For this tag I stamped the image from the -Winter Hugs- stamp set onto a plain white ornament tag that I die cut from Neenah white cardstock. I masked the image off and ink blended the background sky. I used some Studio calico shine spray to make the snow drops. I coloured the image in with copic markers and used a Spectrum Noir shimmer pen to add some shimmer to the image. I used a WOW! embossing pen to add some puffy embossing powder to the hat. I heat embossed the sentiment onto black cardstock and attached it with foam tape.  To finish it off I attached a white silk ribbon for hanging.

Phew! I think that took longer to explain than to make. 😝

Now...  wouldn't you love to win one of the awesome prizes that have been so generously provided by the AMAZING sponsors? If you would then hop on over to  Tracey's blog for all the details on how you can get init...to winit!

Well that's it from me for today. Happy hopping!

Thanks a TON

Hello crafty people.πŸ‘‹
Today I have a card to share that I not only LOVED making, but LOVE how it turned out.  If you know me, you know just how rare that is. Actually.... This one came out better that I had pictured it in my head. 😍What do you think?

To make this I used the -Ella and Edward the Elephants stamp set- from Technique Tuesday as well as masking and distress inks.
I started by creating my masks. I stamped the elephant onto some masking paper and cut it out VERY carefully. I needed to use the negative space to create the silhouette of the elephant with ink blending.
Next I covered a 4.25 X 5.5 card panel with masking tape and die cut the circle. I used another piece of masking tape to sketch out the ground that the elephant was going to be standing on.
When I was done. I went to work blending....and blending....and blending! 😝I used the stamp to place the elephant where I wanted it, but I realized after that that was probably not necessary. (If you look closely you can see the stamp lines)  When I was done with all the blending I die cut the panel with a stitched die frame and heat embossed a sentiment onto the bottom. As a final touch I added some spectrum noir shimmer to the sun and WOW! does it look amazing in real life.

Thats all from me folks.. I hope you enjoyed my card for today. I'll be back with more elephant cards to share in the coming days so stay tuned.
Have a great day.

{Technique Tuesday} Beautiful Butterflies

Hi there. 😁Today I have a butterfly card to share. I LOVE butterflies. I love how these look like they are flying off the card. To make this I used the Beautiful Butterflies Silhouette stamps and matching dies.

I learned how to make this card a few years ago from THIS tutorial Amber from Damask Love did. I used this same technique to make this card. Once I partially die cut my butterfly I used the WOW! trio in Confetti to heat emboss the butterflies. Don't you just love these powders with the speckles of silver and white? πŸ’“Next I used a black pen to make the boarder. I heat embossed the sentiment onto the card with WOW! Platinum embossing powder. I added some raindrops in various sizes to the butterflies and card to finish it off.

I hope you enjoyed todays card.
Thanks for visiting.

{Technique Tuesday} Thank you Big time

Hello, Hello. I'm back today with jiggling hippo card. This cute hippo is from this months Animal house set. Helen and Harry the hippos.

To make this card I first created the background with some blue distress ink and a cloud stencil. I die cut this piece with a wonky stitched die. Next I stamped the images onto white card stock and cut them out with the matching dies. After I coloured everything in I die cut some grass and assembled all the images where I wanted them to go. I attached the hippo with a mini wobbler and then glued everything together. I heat embossed the sentiment onto a black piece of cardstock with white embossing powder and attached it to the bottom. I attached this panel onto a card base that I embossed with a diagonal embossing plate.

Thanks for stopping by.

{Technique Tuesday} WOW! Embossing powder blog hop

Hello and welcome to day two of the Technique Tuesday and WOW Embossing Powder blog hop. You will LOVE the project ideas and inspiration you'll find along the hop. Plus no blog hop would be complete without PRIZES. And a SPECIAL OFFER too. I hope you "hop" right in and celebrate with us today!

Now let's get started.... shall we?

I LOVE heat embossing and I LOVE WOW! embossing powders.  I love how quickly and smoothly they melt. (Like Buttah! I tell ya! Like Buttah! 😝)
So when I was trying to come up with something to make for this hop I knew I wanted to use as much WOW! powder as possible! πŸ˜‚And I think I accomplished my mission.  At minimum this is a record for me in how many different colours of EP I've used on one card before.

To make this card I started by stamping all the popsicle images onto a plain white card base with Versafine clear and Versamark black ink. I then heat embossed the images with clear powder. Next I used a WOW! embossing pen to colour in all the little sections and heat embossed each of them with a different colour powder. This took a bit of time but was quite satisfying. Once I was done "colouring" in all my popsicles with embossing powder I used a scalloped frame to die cut the panel out. When that was done I used my Versamark pad and inked up the entire panel so I could use the clear holographic glitter powder over the whole panel.  I mean, cummon..... That sparkle all over just kicks this up a whole lotta notches. Am I right?😍I mean this thing is soooo shiny it makes me happy just looking at it. 😁For the sentiment I die cut the label from black card stock. I also die cut the word "sweet" from the same black and I cut the word matt from white card stock. Once I glued the two pieces together I coved it with a layer of clear embossing powder just to add some shine and dimension. I used the bright white EP for the "You are" and then glued the word below that. All that was left was to assemble may card and call it DONE!

Phew? I think it look me longer to explain how I made this card than it did to make it. (Just kidding!)
I hope you liked my card for today but before you move on...

{Technique Tuesday} See you later Alligator

Hello and welcome to Technique Tuesday's May release blog hop. The Design Team are featuring a variety of products that have been released this month. Head on over to the Technique Tuesday Blog to see the full collection and links to all the amazing products that are now available to purchase.

You should have arrived here from Jung Ahang's blog.

My card today uses the new Animal house stamp set called Alligators and Crocodiles

To create this card I first masked of the outer edges of a 4.25 X 5.5 piece of card stock with some post it tape.  I created a little sand mound by just free hand cutting it out using some masking tape. I then stamped my images where I wanted them to be and masked them with some masks I cut out of post it notes.

Next I ink blended the background with some Distress ink in tumbled glass and antique linen. Once that was done I removed the masks and coloured my images in using copic markers. I used dots of colour to create some texture. I wasn't happy with the inked background and decided to create some texture to the water and sand by colouring over the ink with copic markers in varying shades of blues and browns.

Once everything was coloured in I removed the masking tape from the border. I trimmed the piece of card stock down to 4 X 5.25 and adhered it to my card base with some foam tape to add some dimension.

Next up on the hop is Dana Kirby.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you found a little inspiration that will help you create some fun cards to share with Family and Friends. 😊

{Technique Tuesday} I'm Bananas about you

Hello!

Today I'm sharing a card I made using the Monkey business stamp set from the Animal house collection. This was such a fun one to play with. Such cute little monkeys with a bunch of fun sentiments.

For this card I wanted a leafy background. Ordinarily I like creating backgrounds with stamps. But for this one I had the green card stock that is cut out(? I'm not sure how to describe it) I've been hoarding this and some others for years and finally decided it was time to use it.

So I trimmed a piece down  and glued it over a lighter green piece of card stock so it would pop. I used a stitched mat to die cut this piece down to a smaller size.  I stamped the monkey, the bananas and the sentiment onto some kraft card stock and coloured the images in with Prisma coloured pencils.  I adhered the kraft piece to the green background and then adhered the green piece onto an acetate card base.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.

{Technique Tuesday} Celebrating Women and Moms.

Hello there.
I hope you are enjoying a relaxing Sunday wherever you are. Today at Technique Tuesday we are celebrating Women and Mothers. I am sharing a card I made that could be given to a special woman in your life for just about and occasion.

This card featured the Beautiful Narcissus flower stamp set. I stamped the image onto some smooth white cardstock and then cut it out with the matching die. I then coloured it in with copic markers.  I watercoloured the background onto some watercolour paper. Next I cut a gold scalloped frame and cut the watercolour panel down to fit behind it. I adhered the flower onto the watercolour panel and popped it up onto an embossed card base with some foam tape. I heat embossed the sentiment onto a little die cut and adhered it onto the front.

Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy the rest of your day :)

Robbies back!

Hello and welcome back. So my friend Robbie the racoon wanted to make another appearance today. 😜

Here he is getting up to mischief again. Seriously... I just love this little guy. He reminds me of my youngest son....always getting into some kind of trouble but then has that cute little "what?" look on his face.  πŸ˜‚

So, I got reallly into this card that I totally forgot to stop and take pics as I was going. πŸ™ˆSorry! Anyway... Luckily it is pretty straight forward so it's easy to just explain.
I started with a plain white 4.5X5.5 Panel of Neenah white card stock and I masked and stamped all my images onto the panel. Next I coloured all the images in with copic markers. (I'm not loving the way I coloured Robbie over there. I think I should have left his face a little lighter in spots so it stood out more. But hey! It is what it is!) When I was done colouring I masked off all the images and coloured the background with some distress ink blending. I used Pumice stone and Tumbled Glass. I added some water droplets and some foot prints. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the panel. I ran the panel through my die cutter with a stitched die to add a boarder. Ans finally I glued the panel onto a white card base.

And that was it. Easy peasy.
Thanks for coming by again. I hope you are having a great day wherever you are.

Robbie the raccoon

Hello again.
Todays card is featuring Robbie the raccoon from Technique Tuesday

I love how cute this little guy is, poking his head out of the garbage can. I know that no-one likes raccoons going through their garbage in real life. But in the land of crafting it's all good. 😝

For this card I stamped the images with memento tuxedo black ink onto 100LB Neenah white card stock. I coloured them in with copic markers. Although I have matching dies I opted to fussy cut the images out since I did not any white borders. I inked up a 4.5 X 5.5 piece of white card stock using some distress inks in pumice stone and tumbled glass. I used some water to create the droplets and them used a stitched die to cut my panel where I adhered my images to. I stamped some of the little footprints and used a grey copic marker to add some shadows to ground my images. I stamped the sentiment and adhered the panel to a kraft coloured card base.

That's it for today. I'll have more cards using this and other Technique Tuesday stamps to share in the coming days. So be sure to stop by and visit me again soon.

For todays card I used the Sassy Birthday 2 .0 stamp set to create this sweet birthday card.

I started by die cutting the windows and stitched scallop border from a plain 4.25 x 5.5 panel of white card stock. I then stamped my images onto the inner pieces that were left from the window cut outs. I coloured the images in with copic markers. I drew my colour palette from the colours in the striped piece of paper I used for my background panel.  I and then masked them so I could do some light ink blending around them to make them stand out more. I stamped the sentiment onto my top panel and coloured them in with copics too. I adhered the piece of patterned paper to the base of my card and then placed the window panel on top of this with foam tape. I glued the images into the windows. and I finished the card with a few pretty jewels drops.

Thats my card for today. Come back tomorrow to see how I used this same set to create another card.

Technique Tuesday

Hello again!
Today I so am excited to share a card I made using the Beau & Beatrice the beaver stamp set from Technique Tuesday. It is the newest addition to the Animal house collection. I just love all the stamps in this collection. They have such awesome sentiments and such cute images.
So without further ado.... I give you my card 😁

Aren't these little guys just adorable? 😍
I used a cloud stencil and some Tumbled glass distress ink to create the clouds onto an A2 white card. I used some stitched circles to die cut the windows from some woodgrain card stock. Once I stamped and die cut the beavers out I used copic markers to colour them in. The sentiments are heat embossed with white embossing powder onto some black card stock. Once I finished assembling the card I added some of my favourite rain drops to the card to just kick it up a notch.

I hope you enjoyed my card for today and I'll be back to share more cute cards with this adorable set.

25 days of Christmas tags 2018

Hello and welcome.

There are prizes each day! Be sure to check out the 25 Days Post for details.

For this tag I used images from the Wplus9 Merry and Bright stamp set. I stamped the glass holder with SSS fog ink and used copic markers to shade it. The candle and  the rest of the images were stamped with various PTI and SSS inks. I used added some shading and white gel pen to create some depth and dimension. I finished off the tag with some ribbon and green twine.

Hello again.
Today I am back to share another card I made with the Henrietta the hedgehog stamp set from Technique Tuesday that was released this month.  This set is part of their Animal house collection. I absolutely love these sets, they all have a great variety of sentiments with images that are just so cute and easy to work with.

One of my favorite things to do with cards is create backgrounds. Don't get me wrong, I love and hoard pretty patterend paper. I just find it so satisfying to know that I made the 'whole' card. So whenever I see small stamps in sets, my first thought is....Background!
For this card I randomly stamped the mushroom on a 4.25 X 5.5" card panel with Memento's tuxedo black ink. I also stamped the hedgehog and a couple of extra mushrooms. I used prisma colour pencils to colour in the hedgehog and since I didn't want a white boarder I fussy cut it out with scissors. I used zig clean color brush markers to colour in the mushrooms. Once I was done all the clouring I used a wavy stitched die to cut out my panel. Next I used a semi circle die to cut a window out of the panel. I also cut a black boarder to frame the window. I used the inside piece and did some ink blending to make it look like a sky and ground.  I stamped my sentiment before I attached that piece to the card base and popped the panel up with foam tape. I attached the images inside the window as well as some grass I die cut to add some interest.

Well, thats it for my card today. I do hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sorry I've been a little prickly.

Hello, hello!

Today I am sharing a fun card that I made with the newest edition to the Technique Tuesday Animal house collection, Henrietta the Hedgehog. This set was so much fun to work with. I just LOVE all the sentiments in this set.

For this card I used the mirror image stamping technique. I first stamped the hedgehog image onto  Neenah white cardstock with Momento Black ink. I then stamped the image onto a solid rubber stamp and then used that to stamp the image again onto my cardstock.  This creates a mirror image.
I also stamped the mushroom image onto the same piece of cardstock. Once everything was stamped, I coloured all the images in with copic markers. This set does have matching dies but since I created a mirror image I needed to fussy cut them so that they all looked the same.
For the background I covered a 4.25 X 5.5" panel of white cardstock with masking paper and sketched out a hill. I cut the hill out and used the masks to do some ink blending. Once I was happy with the intensity of the blending I splattered some ink and water onto the blending to create the splattered effect you see. I wanted to create a sandy ground for them to be standing on. I then used a scalloped die to cut out the panel in the size I wanted. Next, I stamped my sentiment directly onto the panel and adhered the images onto the panel with clear foam squares. Lastly, I popped the panel up onto a plain white card base with some foam tape.

I really like the way this turned out, and I'll probably be glad I have this on hand when the need to apologize arrises. ;)
Thanks for stopping by.
I hope you enjoyed my card.

Superboy comic

Hello!
Todays card was a labour of love. πŸ’ I made it for a birthday party my youngest son was invited to. It took an insane amount of time to come together and at one point I was ready to give up, but since I am so stubborn my ego would not allow this card to defeat me so I persisted.  πŸ˜œ And I am glad I did because I actually like the final product.

For a while now I have wanted to create a comic book inspired card. This super boy image from MFT was the perfect character to base my card on. I coloured him in with copic markers and then went to work on the rest of the card. I used distress inks and a combination of stamps and stencils to make the different background pieces. For the Orange piece I used some spiced marmalade and carved pumpkin Distress ink for the base colour, then I used a cutout of the Altenew Halftone cover plate as a stencil with rusty hinge. On the blue piece I used salty ocean and mermaid lagoon for the base and  stamped the dots onto with a stamp from the Papertrey Inks superhero stamp set using blueprint sketch. The yellow piece was inked with squeezed lemonade on the base and sponged with mustard seed over a Penny Black chevron stencil.  The red piece was also made with a stencil that I made with my Silhouette machine since I do not own a sun ray stencil. I used Candy apple and festive berries on the base and some fired brick as the darker colour with the stencil. Lastly, the base of the green piece was twisted citron and I stamped the halftone circles from Altenew with PTI's new leaf ink.
To get the comic book effect I used black card stock and the split die from MFT's Blueprints 18. I then cut those two panels in half to get 4 pieces. I used the black pieces as my matt and trimmed the inked pieces down to fit. The words were dies from PTI 's superhero set.  I cut two of each. 1 from black card stock and the other from a coloured card stock. I offset them to create a shadow effect.
I attached everything to a white card base and popped up the circle with foam tape to create some dimension.
Phew.... that took almost as long to explain as it did to make. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ (not really.)

Well, I hope you like todays card.
Thank You for stopping by.

Sweet Macaroons

Hello again.

Today I have a deliciously sweet card to share. If you know anything about me at all, it is that I have a VERY sweet tooth. Desert is my favourite course of every meal. 😍 One of my favourite sweet treats is macaroons. Those delightfully sweet, melt in your mouth treats have me salivating just thinking about them. If you, like me, are obsessed with these little bites of heaven then you know all about  LaudreΓ©.  Now as a card maker, I find their advertising as amazing as their desserts. So when Altenew came out with their macaroon stamp set, I knew I had to have it so I could make cards inspired by these delicious photos.

Don't they just make you want some macaroons? (It's taking everything I have right now not to hop in my car and visit our local mall that has a LaudreΓ© store.)

Now for my card:

To make this card, I stamped the macaroons from Altenew's Handmade Tags stamp set onto white Neenah white card stock with some vanilla versacolor pigment ink. This allowed me to do some no-line colouring. I used zig clean colour brush markers to colour these in and then used a white gel pen to accentuate the highlights. The wreath in the centre is from a Wpls9 stamp set called Heartfelt Holidays. The wreath and sentiment were heat embossed using gold embossing powder. I tried the panel down and mounted it onto a gold mirror panel and then mounted that onto a mint green Hero Arts card base.

This is one of my favourite cards I've made and it went to a very special cousin for her birthday.
I hope you enjoyed todays post.

Thanks you for stopping by.
